FAQ

The questions coaches ask most.

Do parents need to install anything? No — they use secure links (a booking page and a private player page). No account, no app.

I coach figure skating, not hockey — does this work for me? Yes. Pick figure skating at onboarding (or in Profile) and Carve speaks your language — disciplines, skill defaults, and waiver all adapt. Everything else is the same. See Hockey vs figure skating.

A parent paid me by e-Transfer — how do I record it? On the session, tap "Got an e-Transfer? Mark $X paid ✓" for that family. For a pack, use the e-Transfer received toggle on Packs. Either way it's recorded, receipted, and counted in Earnings — no card fees. Details in Payments.

When do I have to charge GST/HST? Once you collect $30,000 in any trailing 12 months (CRA small-supplier rule). The Earnings tab tracks your progress; when you register, add your number in Settings and receipts break out the tax automatically.

I forgot my password. Tap "Forgot password?" on the sign-in page — you get an emailed link that works for 30 minutes. Setting a new password signs you out everywhere.

What if I don't have Stripe / email / Google set up? Everything still works in "simulate" mode: packs credit instantly, recaps/reminders log instead of send, and Google sync stays off until connected. Add keys when you're ready (see README.md, SETUP_GOOGLE.md).

Can I change my skills, rinks, or rates later? Yes — Skills, Rinks, and Profile respectively. Changes apply going forward; history is preserved.

A skater has siblings — do I add them separately? Add each skater under the same family — they're billed together as one family. See Families & CRM.

Two of my families have the same last name — will they merge? No. The roster picker keys on each skater's own family, so two unrelated "Ng" families stay separate (shown disambiguated by parent name).

Someone dropped last minute. Open the session, mark them Absent — the split recomputes for everyone still on, per your empty-seat rule. Already-paid families are never re-billed. The absent skater gets a Book make-up → link.

Can parents see video of their kid? Only after they allow video on their page, and only they and you can play it — clips are private, served through short-lived signed links. See Video clips & consent.

Where do I see if I'm actually making money? Per session: the Session P&L. Across the business: Profitability & economics and Earnings. To test changes first: the Pricing simulator.
