Video clips & consent

Private clips, gated by parent consent.

Clips are where video goes — a ~10-second cut of a rep, attached to a recap so a parent can see the improvement, not just read a score. Consent and privacy are built in.

Attach a clip

In the log form, each skater has a clip upload (MP4/MOV/WebM, ~10s). Add it alongside the scores and note; it rides along when you send recaps.

Consent gate

A parent must allow video on their page before clips are shown to them. Until they do:

  • A clip you attach is stored but hidden from that parent.
  • The log form tells you the consent status so you know whether it'll be visible.

Privacy

Clips are private, not public files:

  • Only you (signed in) and the skater's family (via their private link) can play them.
  • In production they live in access-controlled storage (e.g. R2) and are served through short-lived signed links; a local authed fallback covers dev.

Nothing is a guessable public URL — a clip can't leak by someone sharing a link.
