Logging a skate & sending recaps

Score, note, clip, or voice — in under a minute.

Logging is what makes parents stay: log a skate → each family gets a recap. It's built to finish rinkside in under a minute.

Log a session

  1. Players → Ready to log (or a completed session's Log the skate).
  2. For each skater: tap skill scores (1–5), add a short note, and optionally upload a clip (MP4/MOV/WebM, ~10s). See Video clips & consent.
  3. Save & send recaps. Each family gets a private link to their skater's progress (emailed/texted; simulated until you add a provider).

Fast entry

The log form has shortcuts so you're not tapping 20 times:

  • Set all 4 (or however many skills) — one tap fills a skater's whole row.
  • Same as last — carry forward a skater's previous scores, then tweak.

Voice recaps 🎙️

At the top of the form, tap Record and debrief out loud walking off the ice — "Ben, edges way better today, 4 on stride; Zara, big jump on crossovers." Carve transcribes it and drafts the scores and notes per skater, prefilled for you to review, tweak, and save. Nothing goes to parents until you hit save. (Needs OPENAI_API_KEY + ANTHROPIC_API_KEY; without them the button fills a clearly-labelled demo draft so you can see the flow.)

Offline-safe

Rinks have bad signal. If you log with no connection, Carve saves the entry as a draft and retries when you're back online — clips are compressed and sent later. You won't lose a recap to a dead zone.

What a recap contains

Per skater, per session: your skill scores, a note, and an optional clip. It feeds the skater's progress chart, the parent page, and the season report.
